How was your Christmas? Did you cheat? That is ok, well not ok, but there is no use giving up on all you’ve done so far. Get back into your fitness grove, get off the couch(stop watching all those tv movies) and go shopping…window shopping. I know there are tons of crowds but what a great workout shopping can be. or….
Go to your gym and workout or clean up the whole house from top to bottom, you can burn a lot of calories doing this! Plus, you won’t be sitting on the couch consuming more calories you will be burning them.
Four tips I learned in the last few day…Holidays are rough you really don’t have a lot of time, everyones on vacation, and the last thing on your mind is what you are going to eat or what workout to do. You have tons to do like, being a Hostess or going to a ridiculous amount of dinner parties.
Today I realized that in order to continue losing weight, planning is really essential to becoming successful, just like anything else you do. If you don’t plan what you’re going to eat, or what exercise you’re going to do today, it is a little easier to get off the train tracks. It’s like they say, “Failing to Plan, is planning to Fail.”
These were some things I learned to do for next year:
1. Make a list of the foods you enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. From there, you can figure out what you can make. If you like chicken, you can make a salad with chicken in it, or grilled chicken for dinner.
2. Bring your food journal everywhere, it is a great way to figure out how to improve what you eat. At Get Fit America you receive a little food journal, USE IT! It really comes in handy, because it lets you see how much you really do eat. You can then make goals such as, snacking on roasted almonds instead of potato chips. The more specific the goal you’re more likely to stick to it, and you’ll feel guilty if you don’t follow it. (isn’t that the truth)
3. Preparing food ahead of time is a great way to eat right. This one is very important during the holidays, because time is but an essence…there never is enough of it. With all of the family coming in, shopping and parties it’s hard to have the time to eat right. Even make more food and freeze it so you can eat it for the whole week!
4. Plan your exercise. Some personal trainers could be out of town, hey they have a life too. I find it easy to plan exercise because you can alternate cardio and strength training. When you strength train plan out what areas to work on – arms, shoulders, back, legs and my favorite abs… I’ve found out working out in the mornings to be a lot better than in the afternoon because there are less distractions and you’ll feel more awake for the rest of the day. You will have more time after you get out of work to do what you want to.
Really after the holidays, I learned one major thing…to Plan ahead. That way you can’t fall into the, Ok I’ll cheat for one day and then another and another…etc.
